Ingredients
  

  • For the Cornbread:
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • For the Honey Butter:
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1–2 tbsp honey

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Oven u0026 Skillet : Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place a 9-inch cast-iron skillet inside to warm while preparing the batter.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients : In a large bowl, whisk together 1 cup cornmeal, 3/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tbsp baking powder, and 1/2 tsp salt.
  • Mix Wet Ingredients : In another bowl, whisk together 1 cup milk, 2 eggs, 1/4 cup melted butter, and 2 tbsp honey until smooth.
  • Combine Ingredients : Pour wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Prepare Skillet : Carefully remove hot skillet from oven using oven mitts. Add a small amount of butter to coat the skillet.
  • Pour u0026 Bake : Pour the batter into the prepared skillet. Bake in preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Make Honey Butter : While cornbread bakes, mix 3 tbsp softened butter with 1–2 tbsp honey in a small bowl until smooth.
  • Serve : Spread honey butter over hot cornbread and serve immediately.
