Ingredients

  • Popcorn Base
  • 10 cups popped popcorn (about ½ cup unpopped kernels)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Decorations u0026 Mix-ins
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 cup Halloween-themed candies or Mu0026Ms
  • 1/2 cup colored sprinkles
  • Optional: edible eyes, gummy worms, or colored sugar

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare Popcorn: Pop popcorn and place in a large, heatproof bowl. Remove any unpopped kernels. Set aside while preparing syrup.
  • Step 2: Make the Syrup: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Stir until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a boil. Allow to boil gently for 2–3 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  • Step 3: Coat the Popcorn: Pour the hot syrup over the popcorn. Using a heat-resistant spatula or spoon, gently fold to coat evenly. Let cool slightly until safe to handle but still pliable.
  • Step 4: Shape the Monster Mash Popcorn Balls: Lightly grease your hands with butter or cooking spray. Take small handfuls of coated popcorn and press firmly into balls. Place on a parchment-lined tray to set.
  • Step 5: Decorate: Press mini chocolate chips, candies, sprinkles, or edible eyes into the popcorn balls to create monster faces. Optional: Drizzle melted chocolate over the top for added fun.
