Ingredients

  • For the Hot Chocolate
  • 4 cups whole milk (or milk alternative)
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice (or 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/4 tsp cloves)
  • Pinch of salt
  • For the Marshmallow Ghosts
  • 12 large marshmallows
  • Mini chocolate chips or edible markers for eyes
  • Optional Toppings
  • Whipped cream
  • Pumpkin spice sprinkle or cinnamon
  • Chocolate drizzle

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Marshmallow Ghosts: Draw eyes on marshmallows using mini chocolate chips or edible marker. Set aside for topping the hot chocolate later.
  • Step 2: Heat the Milk and Pumpkin: In a medium saucepan, combine milk and pumpkin puree. Heat over medium heat until warm, stirring frequently.
  • Step 3: Add Chocolate and Spices: Whisk in chocolate chips, cocoa powder, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and salt. Continue stirring until chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Step 4: Serve: Pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Top each mug with marshmallow ghosts. They will float and slightly melt into the drink for a fun effect. Optional: Add whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, or a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.
